The chapters on weeknight suppers are the ones I keep coming back to — nothing fussy, just real food I can get on the table after work. I've already dog-eared about a dozen pages.

The way she writes about growing up in Moultrie makes you feel like you're sitting at her grandma's table. I've cooked from a lot of Southern cookbooks, but the Hey Y'all-style stories woven between the recipes are what kept me reading cover to cover.

The pimento cheese recipe alone made this book worth it, and the short intros before each dish feel like she's standing in the kitchen talking you through it. I've cooked three recipes so far and my husband has asked for the fried chicken again twice.
