The sateen has a genuine sheen to it that makes the embroidered pearls catch the light without looking flashy. I've washed the set twice now and the stitching hasn't puckered at all.

The ombré shading on the pearl strands is what sold me — they fade from ivory to a soft grey and look far dressier than plain bedding. It washed cold on gentle and came out without a single crease in the embroidery.
